WHY AN INTEGRATIVE APPROACH? About seventeen years ago, I personally discovered that treating illness with integrative and holistic approaches, yielded me more positive results than with traditional medicine alone. In search of overall wellness, over the years I've added in yoga, acupuncture, Reiki, meditation, whole foods, nutrients, amino acids, vitamins and minerals, and found I began to experience physical healing. I also experienced unexpected emotional improvements. This began my passionate journey into integrative mental health, which I share with my clients who desire this focus. THE BOTTOM LINE ON THERAPY? Therapy gives you choice. It helps you to learn and develop new ways of thinking, feeling, and acting and can help to extinguish patterns of behavior that are currently not working for you. Therapy is about acknowledging and accepting who we are, letting go of what we no longer need, and being present in our lives, leading us to feel more authentic, connected and alive. HOW CAN YOU HELP ME? My goal is to assist my clients in acquiring awareness and obtaining balance by identifying unhealthy patterns in their lives. Using integrative approaches, Brainspotting, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, mindfulness based, and solution focused therapies, I hope to help you develop skills to become your best you. Ideally, our collaboration will lead to meaningful change. I work with individuals and families; adults and young adults, aiming to create a safe environment where you can feel free to explore what you might otherwise avoid. WHAT IS DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY (DBT)? Dialectical behavior therapy is an evidence-based therapy that balances acceptance and change. DBT helps individuals to examine problem behaviors and to then work to develop new more effective skills to manage painful emotions and decrease relationship conflicts. DBT specifically focuses on teaching individuals skills in the four key areas of mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance, leading to increased healthy coping. WHAT IS BRAINSPOTTING? "Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms." - Developer and Trainer David Grand, Ph.D. WHAT IS MINDFULNESS-BASED COGNITIVE THERAPY (MBCT) ? Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is a type of therapy that combines cognitive therapy, meditation, with the present moment, non-judgmental stance of mindfulness. |
